We get asked what kind of label Phat Rocks is. The short answer: a small one, on purpose, with a clear sound.

The core and the edge

At the core: jazz, nu-jazz, hip-hop, R&B and funk. On the edge: psychedelic rock, when it has groove. Our artists come from Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Brazil and Mexico to start, with room for the rest of the region.

Would a DJ play it and a collector keep it?

The test

Every demo gets the same question. If a DJ would put it in a set and a collector would file it next to their favourite records, we want to hear more.

What we don't release

Reggaeton, commercial pop and EDM aren't for us. Neither are records that still need finishing, or anything without clean rights. We'd rather put out a few records we believe in than a lot we don't.
